Just an old man in a loincloth in distant India: Yet when he died, humanity wept." This was the observation of a newspaper correspondent at the death of Mahatma Gandhi. The tragedy occurred in New Delhi as the gaunt old man walked to a prayer-meeting and was engulfed by one of history's great ironies - a life-long pacifist and promoter of non-violence struck down by an assassin's bullet.
Here, as usual, there was a clump of people, some of whom were standing and some of whom had gone on their knees or bent low before him. Bob and I turned to watch - we were perhaps ten feet away from the steps-but the clump of people cut off our view of the Mahatma now; he was so small. Then I heard four small, dull, dark explosions. 'What's that?' I said to Bob in sudden horror. 'I don't know,' he said. I remember that he grew pale in an instant. 'Not the Mahatma!' I said, and then I knew.

"In the last years of his life, Malcom X did a number of things that angered the CIA. He stated many times that he believed the CIA was behind the Lumumba assassination. He held widely publicized meetings with anit-imperialist Third World leaders, many of whom were later overthrown or killed in CIA-backed operations. And he planned to ask the UN to officially declare American blacks an oppressed minority, which would be a major embarrassment to the US... But another decelopment scared the government more-Malcolm, no longer a separtist, was forging alliances with more moderate black leaders. If he'd lived just a week longer, he would have had his first cooperative meeting with martin Luther King. Soon after, he would have gone to Algeria for a summit meeting of nonwhite resistance movements from all over the world.
The FBI and CIA had been spying on Malcom for years (in coordinated effort), and both the Nation of Islam and Malcom's splinter group the OAAU, were heavily infiltrated by government agents. In fact, one of Malcolm's bodyguards the night he was slain was working for the New York Police Department's intelligence unit; he left the scene shortly before the shooting started.
Malcolm had expressed doubts to his biographer that the Nation of Islam could be behind all the things that happened in the year before he ws killed. 'I know what they can do and what they can't do,' he'd said, 'and they can't do some of the stuff recently going on.'
Malcolm was shot to death by five gunmen while giving a speech in Harlem in February 1965. All but one of the assassins escaped. The three men eventually charged with the murder were all members of the Nation of Islam. In 1979, one of them revealed that the conspiracy to kill Malcolm had included one of the highest-ranking FBI infilitrators in the Nation of Islam.
With Malcolm dead, the coalition between the more radical and the more moderate wings of the black liberation movement never came to pass. His esolution regarding the opression of American blacks reached the floor of the UN, but without Malcolm's charisma to draw attention to it, it was ignored."

"After pleading guilty to assassinating Marting Luther King, Jr. and being sentenced to 99 years, James Earl Ray said he was coerced into the plea by his Mob-connected lawyer. He insists he was framed for the King murder by a mysterious man named Raoul, for whom he had been working in the spring of 1968, just before the assassination.
Certainly there's something fishy about the idea that Ray acted alone. He eluded a massive, three-and-a-half-month, international manhunt, escapeing to Europe by way of Canada. This required a lot more cunning and financial resources than an incompetent, smalltime theif and drifter like Ray could muster.
But the fishiest thing about Ray's escape was the four very detailed and precise aliases he used. All were the names of men who lived in the same section of Toronto (where Ray had never been) and each man bore a strong physical resemblance to Ray, right down to their scars. In at least one case, Ray also seems to have access to information that could only have come from the alias' military records.
In 1989, a convicted murderer named Jules Kimble shed some light on all this. He claimed he'd been part of a conspiracy to kill King that included members of the CIA, the FBI and the Mafia.
Jules Kimble says he introduced Ray to CIA identities expert in Montreal in 1967, who provided Ray with aliases he used as a fugitive. Investigators discovered that a CIA identities expert was indeed working in Montreal at that time. His name? Raoul Miora.
This alone ought to be enough to reopen the case, but there's more to kimble's story. He says that after meeting with Raoul, he took Ray to a CIA training camp, and later to Memphis, where a seven-man hit squad assassinated King.
Kimble claims Ray was party of the conspiracy, but was framed for the murder by means of bundle of his belongings which was left at the scene of the crime. In the bundle was the supposed murder weapon with Ray's prints on it.
Kimble was connected with boith Mob and intelligence figures during the period in question, including David Ferrie, a prime suspect in the JFK assassination. And the official account of Ray's supposed activities has more holes in it than a piece of cheesecloth."

"If the CIA had nothing to do with the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, they certainly have a peculiar way of showing it, since they've undermined every investigation into JFK's murder. This is hardly surprising, given the disproportionate number of Cia connections to the case.
Take the accused 'lone nut,' Lee Harvey Oswald. As a Marine, he was stationed at Atsugi Air Base in Japan, one of the largest CIA stations in the world and home of the ultra-secret U-2 spy plane.
Before his transparently phony 'defection' to the USSR in 1959, oswald studied Russian in the military. In Moscow, he renounced his citizenship to a CIA officer at the US Embassy, promising to tell the Russians all he knew about the U-2. When he 'changed his mind' two years later, the State Department cheerfully returned his passport and loaned him the money for his trip home.
Oswald was met in New York by a member of a CIA front group that was full of Nazis. he then moved to Dallas, where he was 'befriended' by Count George de Morhenschildt, who admitted shortly before his death that he's been assigned by the CIA to debrief Oswald on his Russian sojourn.
When Oswald moved to New Orleans in the summer of 1962, he becamse involved, wittingly of unwittingly, with three far-right agents of the CIA who were conspiring to assassinate JFK, ostensibly for he 'betrayal' at the Bay of Pigs-Guy Banister, with whom Oswald worked while continuing to pose as a Marxist; Clay Shaw, who would later be acquitted of involvement in the JFK assassination at a trial where the prosecution tried but failed to obtain proof of his CIA satuts; and David Ferrie, whose Civil Air Patrol unit Oswald had joined when he was 15.
Back in Dallas that fall, Oswald was seen in the company of one 'Maurice Bishop,' later identified as David Atlee Phillips, who was part of a group of CIA officers that despised JFK...
There are several possible motives for CIA involvement in the assissination: JFK's percieved 'softness' on communism, the fact that he'd fired CIA Director Allen Dulles and Deputy Director Charles Cabell, and a statement he made shortly after the Bay of Pigs, in which he promised to 'spliner the CIA into a thousand pieces and scatter it to the winds.'"

Robert Kennedy:
"In the murder of JFK's brother, the case for conspiracy can be summed up in once sentence: The Los Angeles coroner's report states that RFK was killed by a point-blank shot from behind, while everyone agrees that Sirhan Sirhan, the convicted assassin, was at least three feet in front of him.
There's a lot of eveidence of CIA involvement in the RFK assassination. For one thing, despite the clear fact that there had to be a sceond gunman, The LAPD's special taks force investigating the case bent over backwards to prove Sirhan was the lone assassin. Witnessess were intimidated, evidence was destroyed and plausible supspects weren't questioned.
Two key members of the task force had long standing ties to the CIA, and were especially zealous about browbeating witnesses whose testimony suggested a conspiracy.
Another obvious suspect who was barely investigated is the Rev. Jerry Owen, who was seen with Sirhan in the days before the murder. owen admited knowing Mafia courier Edgar Bradley, who also was present at the JFK assassination.

Tarek al-Zomor has served out a 22-year jail term for conspiracy and membership of the outlawed Egyptian Islamic Jihad group, the court said.
The interior ministry had been continuing to hold him on the grounds that he is a risk to national security.
Four soldiers were executed for the attack on President Sadat, during a military parade in 1981.
There are no reports that al-Zomor has actually been released.
The news agency AFP reported that the interior ministry had launched an appeal to a higher court.
The ministry is allowed to detain inmates for five years beyond their sentence if they are deemed a security risk.
Cousin held
But the administrative court at the Council of State reportedly ruled his continued detention was "a violation of his personal right to freedom and to return to his family".
The court denied a similar request for release from al-Zomor's cousin, AP news agency reported.
Lt Col Abboud al-Zomor has also served 22 years for his role in planning Sadat's murder.
The agency said it was unclear why Col al-Zomor's request had been turned down.
"This is a violation of the prisoner's legal rights," it quoted the attorney for the two prisoners, Nizar Ghorab, as saying.
Radical clash
Anwar Sadat was shot on 6 October 1981 by Khaled al-Islambuli, also a member of the Egyptian group Islamic Jihad, during a military parade.
Islamic radicals had condemned Sadat for being the first leader in the Arab world to sign a peace treaty with Israel, in 1979.
He had initially sought the backing of Islamists in a political struggle against left-wingers, but growing radicalism turned them against the president.
Sadat was succeeded by Hosni Mubarak, who remains president to this day.

The assassination of Yitzhak Rabin took place on November 4, 1995 (12th of Cheshvan, 5756 on the Hebrew Calendar) at 21:30, at the end of a rally in support of the Oslo Accords at the Kings of Israel Square in Tel Aviv. The assassin, Yigal Amir, a right-wing religious Zionist strenuously opposed Rabin's peace initiative and particularly the signing of the Oslo Accords.
After the rally, Yitzhak Rabin, the Israeli prime minister and defense minister, walked down the city hall steps towards the open door of his car. Three shots were fired towards Rabin.
The assassin was Yigal Amir, a former Hesder student and Orthodox far-right law student at Bar-Ilan University. Amir had strenuously opposed Rabin's peace initiative and especially the signing of the Oslo Accords because he felt that an Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank would deny Jews their “biblical heritage which they had reclaimed by establishing settlements.” (Smith 458) Amir had come to believe that Rabin was a din rodef, meaning a ‘pursuer’ who endangered Jewish lives. The concept of din rodef was not a part of traditional Jewish law and had been resurrected by ultra-orthodox rabbis from Brooklyn and the settlements. Under din rodef, Amir would be justified in removing Rabin from being a threat to Jews in the territories (Smith 468).
He was immediately subdued by Rabin's bodyguards and arrested with the murder weapon, a Beretta 84F .380 ACP caliber semi-automatic pistol. He also shot and slightly wounded Yoram Rubin, a security guard, with a third bullet that missed Rabin.[1][2] Incidentally, Rubin was also a geography student at Bar-Ilan University at the time.
Rabin was rushed to Ichilov Hospital at the Tel Aviv Medical Center, where he died on the operating table from blood loss and a punctured lung within 40 minutes. Rabin's bureau chief, Eitan Haber, announced outside the gates of the hospital:
"The government of Israel announces in consternation, in great sadness, and in deep sorrow, the death of prime minister and minister of defence Yitzhak Rabin, who was murdered by an assassin, tonight in Tel Aviv. May his memory be blessed."
In Rabin's pocket was a blood-stained sheet of paper with the words of the song Shir Lashalom ("Song to Peace"), which ironically dwells on the impossibility of bringing a dead person back to life and therefore the need for peace.
